6 Ways to Help a Loved One with Covid-19

Josh and I were so blessed by friends and family who stepped in to take care of us from a distance while we were sick with Covid. I thought I’d put together a list of helpful ways you might be able to take care of someone YOU love who is at home with Covid-19.

-make a grocery run & drop it at their door. This is, by far, the most helpful thing you can do for someone who is sick. I’ve got some rock star friends who really came through for us by making a couple of trips for groceries. (I used PayPal to reimburse.)

-mow the lawn. This was an impossible task for us while we were sick. Covid=no energy. Just showering will wear you out. There’s no way you’re mowing the lawn if you have the virus.

-have a meal delivered. Order it to be delivered or make it yourself. An amazing friend of mine who lives out of state offered to have a meal delivered to our door and it was one of the most thoughtful offers!

-write and mail a card. My church sent us an encouraging card letting us know they are praying for us.

-Amazon care package: vitamin C, Zinc, Tylenol, heating pad (the body aches are pretty extreme), microwaveable neck wrap, snacks. The Tylenol, neck wrap, and heating pad really helped alleviate the body aches. Vitamin C and Zinc have been proven to help your immune system heal. We have taken supplements throughout being sick (and took them long before we got sick).  These items can all be purchased and shipped to your loved one in no time flat!

-find out their favorite drink and make a Sonic or Starbucks run! Losing my sense of taste was the strangest symptom I experienced. Josh made me tea and I had no clue what kind it was. It just tasted like hot water. However, not everyone loses their sense of taste so this would be a great way to bless a friend who is stuck at home for an extended period of time.

In a world that feels restricted and divided lets be creative and thoughtful with our solutions. We can love people in practical ways and meet basic needs.
